Egypt closely monitors truce in Syria

Egypt is closely monitoring how the truce in Syria, which entered into force yesterday, is being complied with, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid stated.

"Egypt has been overseeing the truce in Syria with interest, and we hope that all parties will comply with it," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

"The importance of the truce is in the fact that it gives a chance to deliver humanitarian aid, as well as improving the climate for negotiations and reaching a political solution of the crisis," Foreign Ministry spokesman noted.
