Assad: it is only up to Syrians to decide who will be their president

Syrian President Bashar Assad said today that only the Syrian citizens have the right to elect their president.

However, he stressed that he wasn't going to resign.

"This is a Syrian affair. My political fate depends only on the will of the Syrians," Tass cites him as saying.
