House in Lefortovo explodes during construction works

A representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow, Yulia Ivanova, has reported the preliminary cause of the explosion of a house in Lefortovo, in which one person was killed and at least seven people were injured, the house was partially destroyed.

"According to preliminary information obtained by investigators after inspection at the scene on the evening of March 10th 2016, fire of steams of flammable liquids took place due to violations of the rules for handling an open fire in an apartment of a multi-storey residential building on the 2nd Kabelnaya Street in Moscow during construction and installation works," Interfax cites her as saying.

The victims of the accident were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning and burns. "The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow organized a pre-investigation inspection of the incident,'' the Investigative Committee of Russia reports on its website.
