Turkey hopes to continue dialogue between Turkish, Greek communities in Cyprus
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaTurkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Dervis Eroglu and congratulated him on his victory in last Sunday’s elections in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
According to 6news, Erdogan saidTurkey will continue to support Cypriot Turks and noted that talks on settlement of the situation on the island must be continued.
“Eroglu, as well as [losing candidate] Mehmet Ali Talat, will reflect to the international society the peaceful strong-willed Turkish people and their positive approach to the negotiations,” Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul in his message to Mehmet Ali Talat noted, “If the Greek side, having decided to accord to your responsibility and your leader’s performance, demonstrated goodwill, we would have obviously come to a just and complex decision.”
