Four Caspian Flotilla ships have held joint exercises with the crews of the over-the-horizon radar system 'Podsolnukh' in Makhachkala, the press office of Russia’s Southern Military District said.

The drills involved the Dagestan missile-carrying ship and the 'Grad Sviyazsk', the 'Uglich' and the 'Veliky Ustyug' small missile vessels armed with 'Kalibr' missile systems.

"The crews of the Caspian Flotilla ships and combat teams of the radio-technical service posts in Makhachkala have held joint drills to detect surface and air targets and provide target acquisition for ships to use missile and artillery armament," TASS reports.

Recall, the over-the-horizon radar system 'Podsolnukh' assumed combat duty in the Caspian Flotilla in late 2013, the press service added.
