Russia and Kazakhstan to step up cooperation in emergency situation prevention

The head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Vladimir Puchkov, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kalmukhanbet Kassymov, have signed a protocol on cooperation in prevention of emergency situations of cross-border nature.

This document provides enhanced cooperation between the two countries on issues of forecasting, prevention and elimination of consequences of natural disasters, holding of regular meetings and consultations to exchange experiences and to develop an integrated emergency management approach, as well as strengthening cooperation in order to prevent the cross-border nature of emergencies.

The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that the protocol is a very important document, which will allow "to jointly solve all the problems". Kassymov, in his turn, said that the interaction between the ministries is based on a solid legal basis.
