National Olympic Committee to be created in South Ossetia

The issue was discussed during a meeting in Tskhinvali by the president of the republic Leonid Tibilov with representatives of the Olympic Committee of Russia and Abkhazia, including the head coach of the Russian national team in freestyle wrestling, a native of South Ossetia Dzhambolat Tedeyev, state secretary OCD Andrey Konokotin, Vice-President of the Republic of Abkhazia Vitaly Gabniya and chairman of the State Committee for physical culture of Abkhazia and sports Bagrat Hutaba.
During the meeting, the head of South Ossetia noted that the country, with rich sporting traditions, has brought up many famous athletes: "The creation of the Olympic Committee of South Ossetia is a necessary step in order that the republic could openly present itself in the international arena,'' Tass cites him as saying.
