Zakharova: Russian Federation didn't start operation in Syria to support Assad

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Russia started the aerospace forces operation in Syria to support the legitimate authority rather than specific personalities.

"They say that Russia introduced the aerospace forces to Syria to support Assad. We could say so if Russia, for example, would have sent troops to support one side in Syria's civil confrontation in 2011 or 2012," the spokeswoman underlined.
