Ella Pamfilova elected chairwoman of Russian CEC

Russia’s former human rights ombudsman Ella Pamfilova was elected the chairwoman of the Russian Central Electoral Commission, the chairman of the counting commission Yevgeny Shevchenko announced the secret ballot results at the first CEC meeting in its new composition.

"The voting results are as follows: Ella Pamfilova - 14, Sergey Sirotkin - 1," TASS cited him as saying.

After that the CEC members voted for the CEC resolution on the election of the Commission’s head. CEC member Valery Kryukov, who chaired the meeting before the CEC head election, handed Pamfilova a bouquet of roses.
