Burjanadze: visa liberalization becomes problem for Georgia
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe former Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, leader of the opposition party 'Democratic Movement', Nino Burjanadze, said that the authorities are creating false expectations in connection with visa liberalization with the EU.
"This is a very serious indicator that visa liberalization will be linked to the conduct of the elections, so it will be problematic for our country," she said.
The President of the European People's Party (EPP), Joseph Daul, has previously said that the abolition of the visa regime with Georgia will be sustained only if free and fair parliamentary elections take place.
Burjanadze links the statement of the European People's Party with the activity of representatives of the United National Movement opposition party, because they have a serious impact there.
"Unfortunately, the Georgian Dream coalition failed to weaken the influence of the National Movement on the People's Party or other structures, because they do not operate efficiently," Georgia Sputnik reports.
