Bilateral negotiations on Russia's accession to the World Trade
Organization (WTO) ended with the signing of a memorandum of
understanding between Russia and the EU. The document was signed by
the Russian Minister for Economic Development, Elvira Nabiullina, and
the EU Trade Commissioner, Karel De Gucht, RIA Novosti reports.

The document contains agreements on the settlement of questions of the
future obligations of Russia in the WTO, including obligations for
export duties and railway rates. Thus, Russia and the EU concluded
bilateral negotiations on Russia's accession to the WTO, which have
been going on since 1993.

The WTO is an international organization created for the purpose of
liberalization of international trade and regulation of trade and
political relations between member-states. It includes more than 150
countries.
