Bloomerg: "Donald Trump's new advisor stands against anti-Russian sanctions and calls Putin worthy of respect"
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe international analytical publication Middle East Online writes about the situation in Syria and the role that Russia plays in the Middle East region. The diplomatic efforts of the leading countries of the world, including Russia and the United States, are aimed at stabilizing the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic without use of military force. However, this is not that easy against the background of the fact that the situation in the country is a kaleidoscope with a constantly changing pattern. To date, there are dozens of large military and political players in Syria, whose actions are not consistent, but in spite of this a delicate balance is maintained in the country, and this is largely due to the recent Russian intervention in the Syrian crisis.
After five years of conflict and uncertainty in Syria, Moscow managed to partially consolidate the pro-government forces, and most importantly, to repel the terrorist stronghold in the state. The liberation of Palmyra may result in a further successful movement of the Syrian government troops in the north of the country to Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa. Currently, Syria is still far from being able to regain its former position as a stable state, due to the fact that the number of elements that make up the Syrian national kaleidoscope are still great: there are supporters of Bashar al-Assad, and the remnants of Islamic State, other Islamist groups, and the Free Syrian Army, the various Kurdish political and armed groups, and local tribal forces, which appear and disappear depending on the situation.
At the same time, negotiations are continuing in Geneva, aimed at the beginning of the political transition in the country, for which the main forces of Syria are not ready at the moment. US and Russian officials meet regularly to identify the main elements of the desired diplomatic solution. Due to the efforts of the Russian side, as well as to Moscow’s military intervention in the Syrian crisis that was made timely, there is a certain balance in the Middle East region. At least, the country went on for some time from the state of the ongoing war, which over the years has been ruining the state and increasing tensions in the Middle East.
The US publication Bloomerg writes about Donald Trump's new foreign policy advisor and his attitude towards Russia. One of the candidates for the US presidency from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, last week named his new adviser on foreign policy, who became Carter Page. The American investment banker, who built a career on transactions with Russia, is one of the few US political players who openly declares that the anti-Russian sanctions have caused enormous damage to the US economy, and calls Putin a strong leader, worthy of respect.
During his political campaign Trump repeatedly spoke in favor of strengthening relations with Russia and expressed the idea that the US should cease to depend on NATO. Not surprisingly, the new adviser to the presidential candidate is also a supporter of cooperation with Moscow. This position of Trump says that if he is elected as the US president in the upcoming elections, US-Russian relations will undergo great changes. There is a possibility that for the first time in decades of disagreement the parties will be able to reach a consensus on many issues, and this, in turn, will have a very positive impact on the situation in the world.
As a visionary strategist, Trump understands that cooperation with Russia is much more profitable than confrontation. Of course, this attitude annoys the US political elite, which still sees Russia as an "aggressor" that threatens the interests of the state, but Trump is hardly the first politician who adequately assesses the international political situation and understands that Russia occupies a leading position in the world political arena.
