New 'Freedom Flotilla' to head to Gaza in May 2011
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA new 'Freedom Flotilla' will be sent to Gaza on May 31, 2011, the
head of a Turkish humanitarian aid charity, Bulent Yildyrym, said on
Tuesday.
Israel says that Gaza is not blockaded and has no embargo. The Turkish
ships will be sent to Gaza and will see whether the Israeli statement
is true or not, Yildyrym said.
He added that Israel has not officially apologized to Turkey and the
world for the attack on the sea convoy and the death of Turkish
citizens, has not paid compensations to the families of the killed and
will not lift the blockade.
Nine Turks died in the attack on the humanitarian convoy, causing
tensions between Turkey and Israel, which had military and political
cooperation. The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused
Israel of 'political terrorism' and demanded apologies and
compensation for the families of the killed Turks.
