The European Union received the first group of Syrian refugees from Turkey, European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said.

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a telephone conversation yesterday with the Prime Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu, which was committed to the implementation of the agreement on refugees between the EU and Ankara, the official German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

"They discussed in detail the implementation of the agreement of March 18," Seibert noted, recalling that the first Syrian refugees from Turkey have already arrived in Germany.
