Armenian government to continue construction of radioactive waste dump

The Armenian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will conclude cartography of locations for radioactive and chemical waste dumps, NEWS.am reports, citing Ekolur.


The works started in April-May 2010 in administrative districts of Zangakatun and Urtsalanzh of Ararat Region.


Supervisor of the work Marat Grigoryan said that the dumps will be 150 meters deep, inside bunkers with a 1-kilometer tunnel.


The construction was halted after the conflicts between the workers and the locals from Zangakatun and Urtsalandzh, engineering was moved from the territory.
