Burned-down village can't be reconstructed

The village of Tsibari, where fire destroyed 85 of the 95 houses on the 30th of November, cannot be reconstructed, the Dagestani geo-monitoring service stated, RIA Novosti reports.

The hillside on which the village is situated is at risk of heavy landslides. According to the head of the region, Gusein Magdiev, residents of Tsibari want the authorities to build one apartment building for them. The deputy chairman of the government of Dagestan, Rizvan Gazimagamedov, says that it is difficult to install electrical and plumbing systems in mountains. However, construction of a new village on the flat plain part of the republic means separating them from their subsistence farms and the basic sources of their incomes.
