Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced today the development of the new Russian foreign policy concept. Speaking at a meeting of the Foreign and Defense Policy Council, he said that the update of the program so important for the state was carried out on behalf of President Vladimir Putin.

‘’I am sure it is impossible to respond immediately and at once to all the questions, to invent some kind of magic formula that would allow any problems to be solved. It is more evident in the current international situation. It remains mosaic, contradictory,’’ Sergei Lavrov warned at the same time.

He also stressed that ‘the period of uncertainty in world affairs continues,’ TASS quotes him as saying.

"At the same time, of course, we can see a general trend, we try to reflect all these trends in our fundamental doctrinal documents. This is the strategy of the national security of Russia and the concept of Russia's foreign policy,’’ Lavrov said, explaining that this is a transition to a polycentric structure of global politics.

"Ideally, this transition should be based on the interaction of the leading centers of power in the interests of a joint solution to global problems. This vision is shared by many countries, though, as during all the previous stages of history, there is no automatism in international affairs. And there is no guarantee that a positive vector will prevail,’’ the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia pointed out.

"Even if this idea had received universal support, its implementation would have been extremely difficult and would have represented a challenge of unprecedented complexity, supposing access to a fundamentally new level of responsibility, foresight and political will,’’ Sergey Lavrov concluded.
