'North-South' corridor allows to create regional electricity market

Iranian Energy Minister, Hamid Chitchyan, at the quadripartite meeting concerning 'North - South' energy corridor in Yerevan, with the participation of the Energy Ministers of Iran, Armenia, Russia and Georgia, stated that this corridor will allow to create a regional electricity market. It should significantly improve the efficiency of operation of energy networks in the region.

The Iranian minister recalled that the original agreement on connection of energy networks of the four countries was reached at the end of last year on the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of Armenia.

According to Hamid Chitchyan, implementation of the project on creation of 'North - South' energy corridor, which has a number of significant advantages in economic and technical terms, and in terms of convergence of the countries in the region, will be of great importance.
