Inter-faith council to be founded in Stavropol

The authorities of Stavropol are developing policies for the further stabilization of the inter-ethnic situation in the region.

Stavropol Territory is the central region of the North Caucasus Federal District. It is thought to be the foundation for its development, and inter-ethnic and inter-confessional stability is very important. To achieve this goal, several problems should be solved. First of all, inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations shouldn't be politicized. The negative influence of migration on the inter-ethnic situation should be subdued.

 

The Inter-ethnic Relations Council of the region discussed the draft of main directions of development state national policy in 2011-2015. The next step will be development of the regional programme of harmonization of inter-ethnic relations.

Stavropol and Vladikavkaz Archbishop Feofan suggested founding an Inter-religious Council, involving representatives of all the main world confessions.

Moreover, an idea of cooperation between district and city police
departments and national communities to deal with problems
immediately was proposed. All the proposals of the Council would be
considered within the development of the social economic strategy of Stavropol
Territory until 2020.
