Iran expands extra-heavy oil extraction
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIran is preparing to launch extraction of extra-heavy oil reserves,
which supposedly amont to 30 billion barrels, Iran News reports,
referring to Internet sources.
A relevant contract worth 800 million dollars was signed between the
international oil company "Kish" and the Iranian state oil company for
engineering and development. It should be noted that the international
oil company "Kish" also partly belongs to the Iranian government.
It is assumed that for 2013-2014, Iran will extract about 5 thousand
barrels of extra-heavy crude oil per day from the "Kouhe Mevand"
field, with a further increase up to 9 thousand barrels.
