Candidates for post of Turkey's ruling party chairman named

Candidates for the post of chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey have been named, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported May 5th, Trend informs.

The country's Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications Binali Yildirim, Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus and Vice-Chairman of the ruling party Mehmet Ali Sahin are among them.

Earlier it was reported that in mid-May 2016, an extraordinary congress of the party will be held, and its current chairman, prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu will not run for this post.

The decision to hold an extraordinary congress was made at a meeting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu May 4th.
