24 million Russians took part in Victory Day celebrations

"Around 24 million people took part in celebrations of the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Law and order and public safety were ensured in full on the territory of the Russian Federation," TASS cited Volk as saying.
Over 15,000 events, including military parades, laying wreaths to memorials, concerts and fireworks, were held in 8000 settlements in Russia on May 9. The biggest number of people attended events in Moscow (7.4 million) and St. Petersburg, as well as in Leningrad Region (1.2 million), Sverdlovsk Region (1.01 million) and Krasnodar Krai (850 thousand).
"Around 273,300 people were involved in ensuring public order and safety of people during public festivals, marches, events. Among them were 181,500 officers of law enforcement agencies, over 10,000 guards, around 24,000 representatives of citizens patrol, 6100 Russian Cossacks and around 10,500 people from private security companies," Volk said.
