Steinmeier condemns escalation of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

The longer the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh continues, the more arms its participants receive, the higher the risk of a new escalation in the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier said today.

"Hardhearted fights along the contact line showed six weeks ago that the long-term status quo is untenable in the long term perspective. The longer the conflict continues, the more intense its participants receive arms, the higher the risk of a new escalation,'' RIA Novosti cites the minister as saying with reference to the German Foreign Ministry.
