Vugar Gashimov chess memorial opens in Shamkir
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Vugar Gashimov Memorial opened today in Azerbaijan. It will be held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Shamkir.
The memorial will be held in Shamkir for the third time, it is dedicated to the memory of famous Azerbaijani chess player, who died at the age of 27 of a brain tumor in 2014.

Among the participants are a contender for the title of world chess champion Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin, Fabiano Caruana (the US), Anish Giri (the Netherlands), Pavel Eljanov (Ukraine), Pendyala Harikrishna (India), two-time Women's World Champion Hou Yifan (China) and four Azerbaijani chess players Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Teymur Radjabov, Eltaj Safarli and Rauf Mammadov.
The tournament will be held from May 26 to June 4, TASS reports.
