Criminal Court opens investigation into violence on Manezh Square

On Monday, following Saturday's riot on Manezh Square in Moscow 10
criminal cases were brought against those participants who attacked
people from the North Caucasu, as well as against the police officers,
RIA Novosti reports.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov issued a statement condemning the
events. "We have paid too high a price for peace and stability in the
Russian Caucasus. And we, the Russian citizens living in the Caucasus
will not allow anyone to rock the situation in the country," he said.

More than 5,000 football fans and nationalists staged a riot on
December 11th on Manezh Square. As a result, according to the Moscow
city government, 32 people were injured, with seven still in hospital.
