Ex-Georgian PM Buys Pirosmani Painting, Donates To Museum
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaBidzina Ivanishvili, the billionaire former prime minister of Georgia, purchased “Arsenal Hill at Night,” a rare painting by Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani, at the Christie’s auction house in London, England for almost $1.5 million and donated it to Georgia’s Museum of Fine Arts, according to Agenda.Ge.
The painting is believed to be Pirosmani’s most expensive creation, with Christie’s art experts estimating it to be worth between £800,000 and £1,200,000 ($1.25 million and $1.87 million). It belonged to a private collector before being auctioned.
