The body of the first vice president of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Adlan Varayev, has been found in a Chechen village.

Varayev went missing on May 3 after he fell down in a river.

"Varayev’s body was found today. He has identified by relatives. The search has not stopped since the day when it happened. Many people have been involved in the search, in difficult weather conditions, in a land-slide-prone area. Many have been hoping to find him alive," TASS cited a three-time Olympic champion Buvaisar Saitiyev as saying.

Varayev was the first ethnic Chechen to win an Olympic medal. He was silver medalist in freestyle wrestling at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988. He was also the world champion in 1987 and silver medalist of the world tournament in 1986.
