Mufti of Kabardino-Balkaria buried in Nalchik

The mufti in Kabardino-Balkaria Anas Pshikhachev, who was killed
yesterday, has been buried at a Muslim cemetery in the capital of
Kabardino-Balkaria, RIA Novosti reports.

Pshikhachev was one of the most authoritative Islamic religious
figures in the North Caucasus. The police of Kabardino-Balkaria say
that two unknown assailants lured the mufti from his house and shot
him. He received 4 gunshots.

President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov, head of
Karachay-Cherkessia Boris Ebzeyev, head of the national coordination
center of the Muslims of North Caucasus Ismail Berdiyev were at the
funeral.

Kanokov said that the authorities of the republic will help the mufti's family.
