Telasi receives loan from EBRD for repair of electric lines in Tbilisi

a loan worth $25 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD). The sum will be used for rehabilitation of
electric lines in Tbilisi. The deal was signed by the head of Telasi
Yuri Pimonov and the director of the EBRD for electricity and energy
affairs Nadit Parshad on December 15, Trend reports.
Telasi will use the loan for expansion and rehabilitation of the
network and substations of medium and low voltage, implementation of
the new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and
will allow Telasi to carry out distant monitoring of the company's
network.
Realization of the projects will improve energy security of consumers,
quality of services and functioning of the energy system.
The project will improve ties with the Inter RAO UES. Telasi will
reduce energy losses.
A mandate agreement on financing the investment projects of Telasi in
rehabilitation of the low voltage networks was signed between Inter
RAO UES and Telasi with the EBRD in April 2010.
Telasi, part of the Inter RAO UES group, is one of the largest
Georgian network companies for distribution of electricity. It
services the Georgian capital Tbilisi and its outskirts. It fulfills
80% of demands for electricity in the capital's region. Telasi has
over 454,000 consumers.
