The Armenian authorities, in order to divert the attention of the population and international community from the ongoing unrest in the country, once again spread false information that allegedly Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire and shelled Armenian settlements, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said.

Azerbaijani army, in compliance with the principles of international law and humanitarian norms, abides by the ceasefire agreement and never targets civilian population, the country's Defense Ministry added.

The Armenian authorities, through such false information, seek to aggravate the situation on the frontline and prepare the ground for the justification of the planned provocations, APA cited the ministry as saying.

The ministry noted that the Armenian armed forces have violated the ceasefire on the line of contact of the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
