Iran supporting Turkey: Turkish consul general

The Islamic Republic of Iran as a powerful regional nation, is supportive of the Turkish people, says Caglar Fahri Turkish Consul General in Iran's northwestern province, IRNA reports.

'During the attempted coup in Turkey, Iran demonstrated that it remains to be supportive of its neighboring nation, Fahri said during a meeting with the East Azarbaijan governor general on Wednesday. 

Iran from very early hours of the attempted coup in Turkey on July 25, announced that it was standing by the Turkish people and government, he said.

'In his telephone conversation Iran's President Hassan Rouhani very clearly expressed his support for the Turkish government,' he said. 

Once again Iran and Turkey showed that their relations are deeply rooted, the Turkish consul general said.
