MTS disabled in Turkmenistan

The Turkmen subsidiary of the largest Russian mobile operator, MTS - Barash Communications Technologies, Inc. (BCTI) - is taking a month-long break from providing its telecommunications services from December the 21st.

Last week, the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan notified MTS of the suspension of the license issued to BCTI, which expires on February the 1st 2012. The regulator has not explained the reasons for the decision, RIA Novosti reports.
