Analogue of destroyed Kutaisi Glory Memorial unveiled in Moscow

The future of Russian-Georgian relations is in good-neighbourly, true partnerships, Vladimir Putin said today, speaking at the opening ceremony of the monument entitled "We were together in the fight against fascism".

"I am sure no one could aggravate and harden the Russian and Georgian peoples and break the traditions connecting us with a strong human spiritual bond, and hence the future lies in good-neighbourly, equal, true partnership relations between Russia and Georgia", said Putin, ITAR-TASS reports. "We are sincerely striving for this," he added, stressing that "for all of us, Russian-Georgian friendship is of great, exceptional value."

"The monument at Poklonnaya Hill - our tribute to the immortal feats of the ancestors, but at the same time - and testimony to our common faith, determination to cherish the truth about the heroes  and to defend it against cynicism and barbarism, and lies, to stand together against nationalism, xenophobia, extremism, however superficially attractive form they might have", Putin noted.
