The missile ships Tatarstan and Dagestan and the small missile vessels Grad Sviyazsk and Veliky Ustyug will hold missile and artillery live-firing drills in the south-western part of the Caspian Sea on August 15-20, Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday, TASS reports.

"The planned tactical exercise test envisages checking the Caspian flotilla’s ability to carry out operations for resolving crisis situations posing a threat to the country’s defense security, including a threat of terrorist nature," the ministry’s press office said.

Live-firing drills are planned to be held in conditions close to a real combat environment to repel a simulated enemy’s air attack and practice defense against saboteurs.
