The leaders of the North Caucasian republics are forming "coordination councils"
Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the leaders of the constituent parts of the federation to present their plans for ensuring law and order in the regions. The focus should be on preventing extremism, negative developments in the field of migration, corruption, juvenile delinquency and drug-related crimes.
The heads of the republics will have to form permanent "coordination councils" of the law-enforcement bodies and approve their members. These institutions will be aimed at monitoring the situation in the region and analyzing the activities of the local representatives of the Interior Ministry and other executive authorities of the law-enforcement bodies.
North Ossetia has already initiated work on the document. A day after the presidential decree, the head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Arsen Kanokov, held a quick meeting with the permanent members of the Council for Economic and Public Safety of Kabardino-Balkaria, in order to discuss implementation.
