Baku's Nagorny park was already a cult place since the Soviet era. In 1935, designers used natural features of the landscape, build viewing platforms, from which visitors of this place can see stunning views of the city. They connected these platforms by beutiful alleys and сurly stairways. You can see Baku from different sides every time you walk through Nagorny park. In May 1960, a funicular was build in the park, leading from the monument to Bahram Gyuru, a protoganist of Nizami's poem 'Seven Beauties', to one of the viewing platforms of the park. In 1990, the Alley of Shaheeds become an iconic place of Baku's Nagorny park - at that time, the bodies of those died during the tragic events of January 19-20, 1990, were brought here.

'Shehidlyar' mosque, built in 1992 in memory of shahids, who died in the fight for the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh, is also located here.

There is another memorial site in Nagorny park - a monument with the names of 1130 Turkish soldiers, who gave their lives for the freedom of Azerbaijan in 1918, engraved on it. At the time, Turkish Islamic Caucasian army, led by Nuri Pasha, tried to defend the independence of young Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
