Georgian wins Baku beauty contest

Georgian Maya Amashukeli became the winner of the international beauty contest among the CIS and Baltic countries 'Miss Union Baku-2016'. The final of the contest took place on August 20. In the final event, the Georgian representative competed against beauties from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova and Ukraine. 22-year-old Azerbaijani Lyaman Ahmedova was the runner-up Miss Baku.

In the framework of the contest, the participants demonstrated a creative presentation of their country (all the participants presented the national culture of their countries in any genre of art), and also participated in sports displays, intellectual competitions and a thematic fashion show.

The organizers of the contest not only promoted beauty, but also drew attention to the fight against cancer: 30% of the money from ticket sales will be donated to the treatment of this disease.

Maya Amashukeli is 23 years old, she is from Tbilisi. She has already participated in various beauty contests, such as 'Little Miss Georgia 2005', 'Little Miss World 2005' in the nomination 'Miss Talent' and 'Inter Little Miss 2006', where she was the runner-up. During such contests as 'Miss Georgia 2015' and 'World Miss University 2015' she was the winner in the 'Miss Friendship' and 'Miss Photogenic' nominations.

The contest's official website noted that when Maya was asked how beauty could save the world, she replied: "There is a beautiful soul in a beautiful body. A beautiful and kind soul shines with love. And I give love to the entire world."
