Ingush leader calls for harsher punishment for bride kidnapping

punishments for kidnapping brides, Vesti.ru reports.
He requested Moscow police chief Vladimir Kolokoltsev to give the
hardest possible punishment to Ingush citizens in Moscow for bride
kidnapping. Yevkurov said that communities should prevent such crimes.
In early July Ingushetia saw a Muslim conference where the buy-out for
the bride rose to 40,000 rubles, which is three times more than the
former sum. Back then Yevkurov said that he didn't appreciate the
initiative, instead he protests against the tradition.
The Chechen head of the Muslim Council, Sultan Mirzayev, said that the
fine for bride kidnapping had reached 1 million rubles. Chechen leader
Ramzan Kadyrov said earlier that bride kidnapping is neither a Chechen
nor a Muslim tradition and ordered it to be stopped.
