New Year mood – Alexander Iskandaryan
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe year 2010 was tough and controversial. It was full of events that
affected the Greater Caucasus. Head of the Yerevani Institute of the
Caucasus Alexander Iskandaryan talked about the key events of 2010
with Vestnik Kavkaza.
First of all, he noted the OSCE summit in Astana in early December,
which had a great influence on the Caucasus. Tensions over the
Nagorno-Karabakh zone remain, Iskandaryan said.
As for expectations, Alexander Iskandaryan said that things will stay
the way they are. There are unlikely to be any changes in
Russian-Georgian relations. Neither will there be a breakthrough in
fighting the underground resistance of the North Caucasus. If the
economic situation is positive the regions will start climbing out of
the recession, he concluded.
