Maria Zakharova stressed that the Russian Foreign Ministry was actively involved in the release of Sergey Mironov. "Because it was a Russian citizen, who was abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took an active part in the release of our compatriot," she said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson pointed out that the incident in Yerevan was the manifestation of the "hunt for Russian citizens." "We have warned Russians about the ‘hunt for our compatriots' by Washington and the US law enforcement agencies. We believe it is part of the anti-Russian campaign and stress that such US actions violate all conceivable international laws. This does not contribute to the normalization of relations between the two countries, and goes against the basic principles of cooperation between the countries," Maria Zakharova noted.
"All that we hear and see from Washington now is part of a global campaign of vengeance and realization of unrealized ambitions against Russia, The hunt for Russian citizens is a permanent part of it," she concluded.
