Head of the electoral commission: referendum voting is very active

The head of the electoral commission of the 22nd polling station, Kenul Hasanova, speaking with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza,  gave details of the progress made in voting in referendum on making amendments to Azerbaijan’s constitution at her polling station.

"1990 voters have been registered here, 11 of them changed the place of residence. Another 39 people have applied to vote at home. As you can see, the referendum voting is very active, so far it has been attended by more than 200 voters," she said.

There are 13 observers at the side, including international ones, Kenul Hasanova added.

The voting in referendum on making amendments to Azerbaijan’s constitution kicked off and will wrap up at 19:00 local time (18:00 MSK).

The draft Referendum Act envisages establishing first vice-president and vice-president positions in Azerbaijan, extending the president’s term of office from five years to seven years, given the authority to the president to dissolve the Milli Majlis and declare early presidential election, removing the age limit for presidential election, decreasing the age limit from 25 to 18 for participation in the parliamentary election.
