Russian Aviation Agency says Moscow airports to normalize air traffic in two days
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAir traffic at Moscow airports will normalize in two days, head of the
Russian Aviation Agency Alexander Neradko said, RIA Novosti reports.
He said that Domodedovo had 80 departure and 109 arrival flights
postponed at 20.00 on Sunday. Sheremetyevo had 56 flights postponed.
The problems at Domodedovo were caused by a power cut. In Sheremetyevo
the problem was that more time was needed for anti-freeze for planes.
Neradko said that they even had to bring some of the anti-freeze
liquid from Domodedovo.
He said that Domodedovo is almost working in normal mode.
At the weekend, Moscow's airports had difficulties due to weather
conditions. Over 100 flights from Domodedovo were postponed on
Saturday and Sunday as a result of problems with energy supplies. Ice
at the Podolsk substations and the village of Volodarskiy broke
electricity powerlines. 8,000 people missed their flights. Energy was
restored at approximately 22.00 on Sunday and registration of internal
flights started at night.
