In early 2011 the Tbilisi subway will make redundancies. Half of the
ticket agents have already been made redundant and more are expected
next year, Business Georgia reports.

The subway stations have special terminals for Metromoney. Their
implementation has already resulted in the redundancies of 62 people.

According to a member of Tbilisi's Sakrebulo, Jaba Samush, the mayor's
office will continue to make redundancies. The mayor's office said
that the ticket agents are not part of the subway staff and there is
no information about their redundancies. They are members of the
contractor-company Metro Service+. The company does not plan
redundancies.

The subway stations have 191 ticket agents. The Metromoney system
caused 62 of them to lose jobs and 4 moved to different positions.
