Iran introduces duty on exports of iron ore and nuggets

Iran has introduced a tax on exports of iron ore and nuggets, Iran.ru
cites Metal Bulletin.


The duty on exports of iron precipitate is now 50%, nuggets — 35%.


Iran increased iron ore production in the first 9 months of 2010 by
2%, compared to the same period in 2009. 19.399 million tons of iron
ore were produced.


Iranian Minister of Industry and Mines, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, said that
Iran plans to increase the presence of its companies in African
countries, especially in the sphere of phosphate, bauxite and iron ore
production.


The minister said that they will sign cooperation agreements with some
African countries in the very near future. Some documents were signed
last year. The first contract will be completed in December.
Iran produced approximately 25 million tons of iron ore last year.
