An autonomous non-commercial organization (ANCO) ‘Transport Direction
of the Olympic Games’ (TDOG) has signed an agreement with the
navigation-information system (NIS) GLONASS on establishment of a
logistical transport center for control and management of passenger
flows and cargo freighting in Sochi, RIA Novosti cites ANCO.

The agreement involves designing an automatic management system for a
logistical transport center (LTC) and a building for the center. The
LTC will provide security for cargo and passenger transport using
GLONASS.

The TDOG and GLONASS are actively working on the project. They have
launched a ‘pilot zone’ to test the system, developed common technical
requirements for telematic operators providing navigational equipment
and transport companies operating in Sochi.

The LTC will equip the navigation and communication devices with
GLONASS/GPS to improve transport coordination and reliability of
satellite signal reception in mountainous areas.

The head of the NIS, Alexander Gurko, said that the LTC will improve
the efficiency of the transport complex for the Olympic Games in Sochi
in 2014.

The head of the TDOG, Sergey Kozyrev, said that the LTC system of
managing transport will become the basis for modernizing and
developing the transport complex of Sochi.
