Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has not yet approved citrus imports from Turkey despite claims indicating otherwise, the assistant to the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Alexei Alexeyenko, said.

"They are a bit hasty with their statements. They can prepare contracts for future deliveries, but the decision will be made after our inspection which will take place this week," Sputnik cited Alexeyenko as saying.

Turkish Agriculture Ministry Secretary Omer Eksi told RIA Novosti in Ankara earlier in the day that citrus product deliveries to Russia began last week.
