Dagestan. Derbent fortress

Monumental witness of the Great Migration era and outstanding monument of defensive architecture, Derbent fortress complex fulfilled its role for more than 1500 years. It includes the Naryn-Kala Fortress with two long city walls, which completely blocked the passage and reached the sea, forming a port. In 2003, UNESCO recognized oldest part of Derbent with traditional buildings as the World Heritage site.
