Russia and China to develop Far East
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAn agreement to set up a Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on the development of Russia's Far East and the northeast of China may be adopted during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Saint Petersburg later in November, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko said Saturday, Sputnik reports.
Li's visit is expected on November 6-7, during which he will meet Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
A series of joint documents are expected to be signed following the talks, Prikhodko said.
He noted that cooperation with Chinese partners could "seriously help" Russia. According to Prikhodko, the sides are expected to focus on energy and finance-related topics, including gas deliveries via the Power of Siberia pipeline.
First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, as well as deputy prime ministers Olga Golodets, Arkady Dvorkovich, Dmitry Rogozin, Yury Trutnev, and Energy Minister Alexander Novak are among those expected to be present during the negotiations.
Following the talks, the sides will sign a number of bilateral documents, and then Prime Ministers will host a joint press conference.
