The Kazakh Foreign Ministry held a ceremony of exchanging verbal notes on mutual cancelling of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports of citizens of Kazakhstan and Japan starting from January 2017.

"Visa-free travel of diplomats and officials of the two countries will further promote political contacts and boost trade-economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Japan," the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

The cancellation of visa requirements for officials of the two countries coincided with the official visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Japan, AKIpress reports.

In addition, Kazakhstan introduces a visa-free regime for up to 30 days for holders of national passports of Japan from January 1, 2017 in a move to boost business ties with Japan.
