The Russian Federal Security Guard Service (FSGS) does not make entrance limitations to the Red Square, a high-ranking official said, ITAR-TASS reports.

Some media sources made reports that the Red Square will be closed on the night of December 31 – January 1 to avoid nationalistic disorders. A Moscow police official Victor Biryukov denied the information.

The Federal Security Guard Service carried out a unique operation to remove icicles from the star on the Spasskaya Tower, a FSGS official Sergey Devyatov said. The recent ice rains caused the icicle to reach a size of over 2 meters.

The operation required a machine from the Emergencies Ministry to reach the icicle located 80 meters above the ground. The operation was carried out on Wednesday night. Devyatov said that it was the all-time’s largest icicle on the tower.
